Traffic survey update - September 2018

ERYC undertook HGV surveys at three different points in the village in January/February and June 2018 recorded by Automatic Traffic Counters.

The June results in particular showed considerable numbers of HGV traffic in the village and ERYC is considering the next steps with regard to introducing a weight limit.

Given that a weight limit at Melbourne would involve providing signs at quite a number of junctions around the village, the cost of the signing scheme is likely to be expensive.
With regards to this ERYC has asked Melbourne Parish Council for its views, in principle, on contributing towards the cost of the scheme.

The Parish Council has asked for an indication of estimated costs before agreeing 'in principle' in respect of a funding contribution.  If estimated costs are received the Parish Council will discuss and make a decision at the next Council meeting.

In addition, due to reliability issues and lack of effectiveness the Council has decided to remove the Speed Indicator Devices.

Dog Fouling

As a result of a joint initiative between council and Melbourne Primary School over concerns of dog fouling, the school children have designed posters which will be appearing shortly around the village to help  keep Melbourne free from dog fouling.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has a confidential Dog Warden Service. If you witness dog fouling please call 01482 396 301 to report it.

The service will need to know:
• the location of the dog fouling
• time and date of the incident
• name (and address if possible) of the dog owner and
• a description of the dog
