Closure of Hagg Bridge
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is planning to carry out improvements to Hagg Bridge in the New Year. Currently, the duration of the work is unknown but it is likely to be a lengthy process. During this work, the bridge will be closed which means considerable detours for people living in Melbourne, Seaton Ross and East Cottingwith. East Cottingwith Parish Council is carrying out a survey to submit to ERYC requesting a temporary bridge is put in place whilst the work is carried out. If you would like to complete the survey the documents can be found below.
Letter from ERYC
Survey Form Letter
Following the traffic surveys carried out by ERYC, ERYC has now proposed to pursue the introduction a 7.5 tonne weight restriction in the village.
The formal consultation period will begin on 10 July 2019 and last for 21 days. This will be the opportunity for people and organisations to submit formal objections.
Following the consultation, if there are no insurmountable objections, it is hoped the weight restriction will be introduced later in the year.

As a result of a joint initiative between council and Melbourne Primary School over concerns of dog fouling, the school children have designed posters which will be appearing shortly around the village to help keep Melbourne free from dog fouling.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has a confidential Dog Warden Service. If you witness dog fouling please call 01482 396 301 to report it.
The service will need to know:
• the location of the dog fouling
• time and date of the incident
• name (and address if possible) of the dog owner and
• a description of the dog
To report incidents of flytipping please call East Riding of Yorkshire Council on 01482 393939 or complete an online form at www.eastriding.gov.uk
