Traffic survey update - December 2018
Following the traffic surveys carried out by ERYC, ERYC has now proposed to investigate the possibility of introducing a 7.5 tonne weight restriction in the village. The first stage will include a period of consultation with various affected stakeholders and interested parties, including the Parish Council, Ward Members, the Police, the Road Haulage Association and the Freight Transport Association. The plans are have the consultation letters and emails sent out before Christmas.
After consulting, a report will be produced containing consultation feedback which seeks authority to proceed and publicly advertise the proposal.
If approved, the proposal would then be publicly advertised during the current financial year -ERYC informs us the three week advertisement period will be during January or February 2019, certainly no later than early March.
If there are no unresolvable objections following the advertisement of the proposals, ERYC's plan is to introduce the new restrictions in the new financial year 2019 - 2020.
Interim traffic controls have been put in place by ERYC whilst a more permanent solution is found. There is a possibility that the traffic lights may become a permanent feature but plans remain unknown at present.

As a result of a joint initiative between council and Melbourne Primary School over concerns of dog fouling, the school children have designed posters which will be appearing shortly around the village to help keep Melbourne free from dog fouling.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has a confidential Dog Warden Service. If you witness dog fouling please call 01482 396 301 to report it.
The service will need to know:
• the location of the dog fouling
• time and date of the incident
• name (and address if possible) of the dog owner and
• a description of the dog
